Abstract EN

The current research seeks to review some of the narration pitfalls at Naguib Mahfouz's historical novels (The Game of Fates ،Rhodopis ،The Struggle of Thebes) and to study and analyze them.

In terms of novel's form ،it does not reach the stage of artistic maturity ،but it strives to escape from inherited narrative methods.

The problems of narration include many issues ،most notably that the narrative tools are still subject to the vision that stems from the narrative heritage ، which is the conflict between the values of evil and the values of good ،in addition to some of the technical features that come in compliance with the standards of those of old narratives in terms of events and personalities.

Also ،the material is still subject to a mannered way ،which is certainly not the traditional one ،but it carries a significant number of its features.

Moreover ،the novels still derive from old narrative suspense ،and topics that include a love story with a significant value.
