This paper investigates the representations of the dominating male (El-fahl) and the other in "Mawlana" by Ibrahim Essa which dealt with this duality reflecting the politics of the contemporary Arab condition in general and the Egyptian in particular.

This novel reveals the relationships among the members of the textual elite: their ideas and conflicts.

The researcher employs the analytical descriptive method to investigate the intellectual, cultural structure of this narrative text, its extent of responding to the societal truth.

The conclusion sheds light on the role of the writer in disseminating knowledge, and confronting the damaging intellectual tides which push the society back; by encouraging the recipient to create a positive communication with the narrative text
