Abstract EN
Among the range of qualitative processes available to researchers in field of information and communication sciences, ethnography is a relevant tool for data collection and data analysis perspective, a method that is primarily a fieldwork based on participant observation.
An investigation method that literally means "description of peoples/groups", and aims to collect material for producing an ethnographic description, in order to lead us to an understanding of a culture.
Following the development of communication tools, a research method was invented " Netnography", a term created by Robert Kozinets to define the new qualitative method that adapts ethnographic approaches to the study of exchanges within online communities.
The objective of this article is to propose a presentation of the ethnographic approach and its relevance in the communication sciences, more particularly with the constitution of production and consumption networks called today "virtual communities".
