Abstract EN

Translation is one of the methods used in the field of science and philosophy.

It is a tool for dialogue between types of knowledge in different languages.

It is an indispensable tool that contributes to the development of sciences by opening up to foreign countries discoveries and trying to benefit from them.

Translation, as an act, was limited to the translation of texts from one language to another, but, currently, it is itself a subject to study by thinkers and researchers, by reviewing the principles and foundations on which the translation is based, with a necessity to restrict conditions to upgrade and make it an exact science.

Translation was one of the methods that have spread since the Renaissance in the Arab world, especially in the Maghreb, where some scholars claimed that there was no way to promote the Arab nation without friction with the West and benefit from the knowledge and science that the West had.

Thus, translation was the tool that made Arknow about the achievements of the West and this act (the act of translation) has attracted the attention of many Maghreb thinkers, each of whom had a different idea.

Among these scholars is the Maghreb thinker Taha Abdurrahman, who sought to study the concept of translation and determine its mechanisms and levels, to change the role of translation from a tool that makes Arin a dependency on the West to a means of rooting identity.

Taha Abdurrahman claims that the job of a translator: “is not the expansion of the intellectual potential of the self as much as the knowledge of the other in his semantic peculiarity.
