Abstract EN
The paper sheds light on the literary achievement, ideas, and inclinations of a postmodern American poet Anne Sexton (1928-74).
The paper studies selected poems in Sexton's anthologies, and literary heritage in Live or Die (1962), All My Pretty Ones (1966), and Transformations (1972), and presents the origins of her vocation, and her ideas concerning social and political aspects of America.
The poet mirrors her times for its sex and race prejudice, and for its daily violence, and unpredictable atrocities.
The paper shows her condemnation of her country's political and social courses of action like the topic of the traditional role of the woman in the society, and the ugly image of USA in the WWI and WWII.
The study analyses these topics through an approach to selected poems as examples.
