Abstract EN
Being a poet who is granted the feature of fathering English poetry, a poet who describes life as he watches it in a literature which he found "brick and left it marble" (Lall, 2010, p.20), Geoffrey Chaucer (1338-1400) has been given a special attention by critics.
Since he represents a turning point in the history of English language in general and in literature in particular, his name has been given to a literary era which covers the period from 1340 to 1400.
The main purpose of this short study is not to analyze Chaucer's works, a matter which has been done professionally by big critics, but to focus lights on the aesthetic aspects in his The Canterbury Tales with all the hopes that it may prepare the way for a wider study in the future.
It refers to the most prominent features in this long poem with some examples which prove the idea that Chaucer evokes aesthetic lines, words, expressions or ways of narration and description which are not familiar before him for listeners who are still familiar with a language still dominated by medieval forms.
