Synthesis and theoretical study of co(II)‎, Ni(II)‎ and Cu(II)‎ complexes with monoazo ligand

Abstract EN

The synthesis of divalent metal ion complexes with monoazo ligand is reported.

The ligand was prepared from the reaction of p-hydroxyacetophenone with p-chloroaniline.

Characterization of the ligand and it's complexes were investigated by FT-IR, and magnetic data spectral properties 1H-NMR,13C-NMR, DEPT-NMR.

UV-Visible is reported in addition to conductivity measurement.

The stoichiometry of the complexes has been found to be (1:2) M:L, on the basis of physicochemical data suggest square planar geometry around the central metal ion.

The metal complexes may be formulated as [M(L)2] where M= Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) and formed through the coordination with N and O atoms of the ligand.

Density functional theory (DFT) was used to study the stability of the optimized structures, the thermodynamic parameters, and the molecular orbitals of the suggested structures.
