Abstract EN

One hundred and thirty cattle were examined for presence of parasitic infection and 25 cases of infected cattle were used in the present work.

These cattle were divided after parasitological examination according to the type of parasitic infection into five groups each group of five infected animals, beside another five cattle were apparently healthy and used as a control (group 1).

Groups 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 were naturally infected with Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Neoascaris Vitulorum, Moniezia expansa, Cryptosporidium parvum and Eimeria bovis respectively.

Two blood samples were collected from jugular vein of each case.

The first sample about one ml was collected on EDTA for blood cytology.

The second sample about ten ml was collected on plain tube for serum separation to be used in biochemical analysis.

The leukogram showed leucocytosis, neutrophilia and eosinophilia in all groups especially groups 2 and 3.

Monocytosis was present in all groups except group 6.

Lymphocytes showed non-significant increase in all groups.

Protein gram finding revealed hypoproteinemia and hypoalbuminemia in all groups especially groups 5 and 6.

On the other hand, non-significant decrease in alpha globulin, non-significant change in beta globulin and non-significant increase in gamma globulins were observed.

A significant increase in IgG and IgE especially in groups 2 and 3 were noticed.

The biochemical analysis showed azotemia in all groups especially groups 5 and 6.

In addition, hypocalcaemia, hypophosphatemia and hypomagnesaemia in all groups were noticed.

Serum electrolytes showed hypernatremia and hypokalemia in all groups.
