Abstract EN

This research aims to study the role of government investment spending in economic growth, including an outlook for using sectoral growth elasticities in Iraq for the year 2020.

The researchers adopted the simplistic approach for the purpose of reaching this goal, as it derives the provisions from the components of economic theory after studying the extent of its applicability to the reality of the Iraqi economy or not.

This required the use of a descriptive and analytical method of time series with forecasting by building various scenarios to enable those interested to follow the economic developments of what will lead to economic growth for this year.

The researchers found the role of investment spending in achieving economic growth in Iraq, Thus, we propose to increase the investment allocations to the productive sectors at a rate that exceeds the minimum development effort 25-25% for the purpose of diversifying the economy and achieving the targeted economic growth.
