Since the beginning of the 20th century, the pioneers of the Islamic reform in Algeria, such as Abdelkader al-Majawi and others; were well aware of the importance of educating girls and reforming women, in order to reform the society as a whole.

As the reformist movement crystallized under the reign of Sheikh Abdul hamid ibn badis, Mohammed al-Bachir el ibrahimi… The project for the renaissance of women through education was founded for this purpose by the Association of Education in Constantine in 1930, then the birth of the Association of OLAMA, also the establishment of schools and the allocation of sections for girls, and the spread of free Arab education.
