Today, The United States and Latin America have many ties due to the large migratory flow of Latinos to the United States.

As a consequence of this migratory flow and the demographic change that has occurred in the world, new concepts appear in human relations that should be placed in the foreground in the study because they positively or negatively affect both people and societies and their development.

One of these concepts is otherness.

Lately this has become a perspective for studying current migration and its coexistence in the host society.

The main objective of this article is to open a space for reflection and a line of research that focuses on 'otherness' that focuses on the relationship between various social groups.

The article also analyzes otherness in the Latin American novel, La frontera de cristal by Carlos Fuentes, which reflects on the otherness suffered by Mexican immigrants in the United States.

We start from the meaning of otherness, it's formative factors, and the conflict that results.

The paper provides examples from The Crystal Frontier by Carlos Fuentes.

The research results help the reader understand how Mexican immigrants suffer from otherness in AmericanToday, the United States and Latin America have many ties due to the large migratory flow of Latinos to the United States.
