Abstract EN

The study aims to study the paved road networks of the Governorates of Central Iraq, namely the Governorates of Saladin, Anbar, Babel and Wasit a comparative study.

They are the Governorates which have direct borders with the capital Baghdad as well as the importance of their locations and the passing of the main roads from Baghdad towards the North and South and West in these provinces and some have international borders such as Governorate of Anbar, which borders Syria, Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Governorate of Wasit bordering Iran.

The study of the density of paved road networks is one of the indicators of economic development of the country and the more this density increases, this shows the increase of paved roads networks.

The research came up with a number of results, perhaps most notably that Governorate of Babel has achieved a comparative advantage in the paved road network compared to the standard area.

The Governorate of Anbar has achieved the best comparative advantage in the paved road networks compared to the criteria of (population) and (actually cultivated lands) and (the number of cars).
