Abstract EN

The following historical study attempts to elucidate the important educational and social roles that all religious institutions in Algeria generally and particularly in the region of M’sila (el Hodna) played during the colonial period, especially in light of the French policy controlling these religious institutions in all their forms and varieties in order to eradicate the national identity and to eliminate the effects of the Arab Islamic identity from this country.

in order to apprehend and to analyze the reality of the roles and tasks assigned to such religious institutions and the colonial policy applied against them, we will clarify on one of these religious institutions in the region of M’sila, which is related to the Zawiya of Boudjemline in the region of M’sila (el Hodna) trying to identify its educational and social roles during the colonial period 1841-1945.
