Abstract EN

With the proclamation of Law 01-19 on the management, control and removal of household waste, a general framework has been defined for the environment protection.

It explicitly states the principle of the waste rational treatment and encourage the municipality, as the mirror of administrative decentralization and the main local responsible, to inform and warn the citizens about the effects of waste on health and environment as well as the measures to be taken for preventive actions.

The most important mechanism of this law is related the municipal plan for the household waste management, which is prepared in accordance with the global plans of efficient management household waste.

The plan is mainly based upon the collection, selection, transportation, treatment, and finally landfilling in special technical centers.

In addition to that, the plan should take into consideration the optimal economic and financial resources necessary for its implementation
