Although Algerian law has recognized that health care is the right of the convicted person and the duty of prisons Department to do it free and at the same level of health care for the normal person, he neglected a large part of the psychological care and preventive measures necessary to prevent the spread of epidemics and diseases inside and outside prisons Inherited mostly from the colonial era, characterized by the lack of space and the phenomenon of overcrowding.

This article attempts to evaluate the preventive and curative methods of the Algerian legislature and comprehensive health services aimed at addressing the psychological, mental and physical state of the convicts and assess the role of all stakeholders in health care, although the field obstacles to the closed environment do not help to ensure the minimum level of health care.
