The right to dereferencing on search engines is a new human right, which allows the individual to monitor and control his personal data by asking the search engine to delete links to personal data concerning him, if their publication infringes on its privacy, as he has the right to bring an action before the competent court, if his application is rejected.

This mechanism was established by a decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in 2014, but there are legal and technical obstacles preventing the implementation of this right outside the EU.
