Michael Dummett is one of the most influential British philosophers in the analytical philosophy, he has determined in his philosophical project that the aim of philosophy is the analysis of the structure of the thought which appears in the language.

Dummett claimed that the classical metaphysic disputes between realism and its opposits are disputes about the meaning of undecidable sentences that belong to the dispute class, so, the philosophical problems in general are semantical ones and their solutions are found in the philosophy of language exactly in the meaning theory, that is the metaphysical turn in the recent analytical philosophy.

Michael Dummett (1925-2011) est l'un des principaux représentants de la philosophie analytique contemporaine; il a consacré son projet philosophique pour prouver que le but de la philosophie est d'analyser le langage qui peut conduire à une explication philosophique de la pensée.

Pour Dummett les conflits métaphysiques classiques entre le réalisme et ses opposants sont des débats sur le sens des phrases indécidables dans le discours linguistique, alors, la pluparts des problèmes philosophiques sont juste des problèmes sémantiques, et leurs solutions se trouvent exactement sur le plan de la signification.
