Abstract EN

Having a healthy, clean, sound and sustainable environment is one of the most important rights recognized at both the national and international levels.

Therefore, the Algerian legislator has sought to protect the environment through a series of strict, preventive and punitive measures which are not confined to the natural persons who commit Crimes against the environment only, but even on moral ones.

The purpose of this research paper is to shed light on the penal protectionthat the Algerian legislature has devoted to the preservation of the environment, by relying on the analytical approach through the analysis of the legal provisions contained in the Penal Code and law 03-10 on environmental protection and some environmental laws.

Strict and dissuasive penal sanctions have been enacted with the purpose of protecting and preserving the environment for future generations.

The best example of such matter is seen in Singapore which has been transformed into a living paradise, that is what Algeria should remedy; especially in the ence of citizens' environmental culture.
