Abstract EN

This study deals with the concept of existentialism first and then in the ancient Iraqi thought as well as the methods and reality of that concept.

Then as it considered as an idea that reflects humanity's quest for a realistic treatment of human existence.

The Epic of Gilgamesh was a sample of thought that was studied in our research.

In this study, we followed the beginning of existential thought in ancient history, especially through the myths in which there were countless attempts by the human being to reach answers that explain his existence as well as the end, and thus express the way of thinking that he took to understand himself.

Therefore, the Epic of Gilgamesh deals with a central idea represented in human existence, as well as what will happen to the fate of humanity.

Existentialism according to the general concept, is a philosophical trend that takes the human being as a concept of it, not only through thinking, but rather through action and feeling.

It is connected to the human being as a living individual as well as highlighting the existence and its characteristics, and making it prior to its essence.

It looks at the human being as the existence of no essence and believes in the olute freedom that enables the individual to create himself or himself and fill his presence in a way that suits him far from metaphysical existence
