Abstract EN

This article unveils the openness of the Arabic language curricula in the Algerian middle school – the 2nd generation curricula – be it at the level of linguistic theory, or methodology.

This is so because of the tight relationship between theory and practice.

This relationship has established a new approach in the educational reality- which is the communicative-functional approach.

This new approach follows the direction of contemporary linguistic findings, with regard to discourse studies, such as functional grammar, socio-linguistics and pragmatics with their various tendencies, in order to show the prospects in which discourse is becoming a great challenge.
