Abstract EN
Musculoskeletal hydatidosis is very rare and represents 0.5%-4.7% of all cases of Echinococcosis.
On clinical basis, infection mimics a soft-tissue tumor.
We present a case report of a 49 year-old female patient who presented with a painless lump in her upper back.
The lump was noticed by the patient five years earlier.
It was diagnosed clinically as a lipoma and was excised successfully.
Histopathological analysis of the lump revealed hydatid cyst with multiple daughter cysts.
Although hydatid disease is common in endemic areas, hydatid cyst in the muscles is a rare case.
