Since the end of the 2 nd century BC, Rome had known external dangers even the armies’ noble leaders couldn’t got overcome .These threats were represented specially in Africa with Yugurtha’s war as well as the fighting against the Germanic tribes - Cimbri and Teutons – which flowing out at the north of Italy .

In those conditions, a knight man called Caius Marius had got the opportunity to show a capability of leading the army and also new ideas about army’s organization and how to engage in it.

As a result to his success in Yugurtha’s war, Caius Marius was able to reach the post of consul in Rome and he was re-elected many times to continue his war against the tribes of Cimbri and the Teutons in northern Italy, which quickly ended and won.

Caius Marius was named in Rome as The New Man, because he wasn’t belong to nobles or to aristocratic party which was dominated on politics in Rome.

He was a supporter the public class, so he opened again the conflict between the public and the nobility to turn from political conflict to civil wars during the last century of The Roman Republic’s era.
