Abstract EN

The study of the situation of the irrigation in Babil Governorate is of a great importance due to the fact that Babil Governorate occupies a distinguished position among other Governorates in Iraq.

So, this study is an attempt to illustrate the natural factors affecting the establishment of irrigation tunnels in Babil Governorate; and the impact of this on the agricultural reality in this governorate.

Also, it tries to show the positive aspects of the process of lining the irrigation schedules.

The most important modern projects in Babil Governorate is the project connecting Hilla - Diwaniyah and its impact on agricultural production as far as quality and quantity is concerned.

The study showed that the lining of irrigation canals will reduce the continuous repair of these canals, thus allowing the governorate to invest these funds in other projects that serve the governorate in particular and Iraq in general.
