Abstract EN

The interpretations of the holy Quran, which appeared throughout history, are only a collective reading of the sacred versts revealed to the prophet « Muhammad peace be upon him », formed through cultural and knowledgement thought, that reflects the political orientation and accumulations of concepts that prevailed in the society in those periods.

So each interpretation represents a part of the total knowledge contained in the Quran.

and also represents attempts for understanding it’s texts limited by the limits of knowledge overcome the imagination of the dominant thinking of the elites :scientists of religion , literature, language and history, thoughts of different doctrines and politics.

The question now is : Can we draw from these efforts-which are considered as reading or an attempt to understand the holy book - (a foundations for understanding the texts of Revelationit means that we can’t get out of the limits of previous readings , which made in the imagination of Muslim communities over history.

Can we now organize a critical school that looks at these interpretations as an attempt of understanding the Quran linked to time of its cultural contexts and civilizational transformations in general, and therefore we can’t considerate it as a legalization and a single understanding of the Quran.
