Abstract EN

The translation process in Audio-visual media has different dimensions; type of translation and mechanisms in this field is chosen according to the nature of different programs and planners goals.

Dubbing of popular movies and TV series, especially in comedy genre, as a type of multimedia translation, is considered to be a new branch of research in the field of art and translation.

The present research is the result of a study on comedy translate on challenges in the framework of an Iranian comedy series "Khaneh Beh Doush", and its dubbed version in Arabic.

The study aims at assessing the translator's performance in comedy genre and his translation choices according to descriptive analytical approach.

The process of studying and dataanalysis, is based on comedy translation methods according to Henrik Gottlieb (1992)framework.

Accordingly, 320 expressions and humorous terms were extracted from the TV series and were analyzed on the basis of the aforementioned model.

The findings revealed thatthe strategies penetrating, quoting and expanding were the most frequently utilized strategies.The researchers identified ‘addition’ as a new strategy being absent in Gottlieb’s model but used in dubbing the comedy TV series
