The purpose of this article is to describe approaches and methods and tools for identifying and analyzing the training needs of higher education teachers.

The identification and analysis of training needs is an essential step in planning a project for effective teacher training , based on the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data collected, and using relevant methods and reliable tools.

Furthermore, there is not a single, well-defined method in the process of identification and analysis of training needs, but there are several methods and tools chosen according to kind of data collected, human and materia situations and opportunities, and the trainer's ability to analyze the data.

For this purpose, the use of several methods makes it possible to collect qualitative and quantitative data that are adequate and sufficient in terms of the need for training.
