This study aims at shedding light on "Yemen and the Eisenhower Doctrine (January 1957 - July 1958).

" The paper examines US-Yemeni relations before 1957, the US position on the increasing communist activity in Yemen, Yemen's position on the Cold War map, The visit of James Richard to Yemen to present the Eisenhower Doctrine to Imam Ahmad, and the latter's rejection of the principle, despite repeated visits by US administration officials to Sana'a.

The paper also discusses American pressure on Yemen, and the regional and international stance on Yemen's acceptance of the Eisenhower Doctrine.
