The issue of the truth and metaphor is considered as one of the most important linguistic subjects in which the controversy took place, and the reason behind such disagreement is the doctrinal one related to this topic.

At the time the scholars had split up speech into truth and metaphor, some scholars denied this division and did not accept that there should be such a thing known as metaphor.

They were divided into two parts: the first denies the existence of metaphors in Qur'an only, and the second denies the existence of metaphors in Qur'an and the language of the Arat all.

The scholars are divided on this into five doctrines: Some of them said that it is olutely permissible, and it is the opinion of the public, and some of them said that it is olutely prohibited, and some of them prohibited it in the Qur'an and permitted it elsewhere, and some of them prohibited it in the Qur'an and hadith and permitted it in others, and some of them permitted it with reservation.
