Our study aimed to investigate the impact of the Covid-19 virus pandemic in China on financial market indices through the Shanghai Composite Index for Shanghai Stock Exchanges from January 20, 2020 to May 15, 2020, using the simple linear regression model and Eviews7 reliance.

Our study, through the results of the simple linear regression, concluded that the stock markets respond negatively to the increase in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 virus; By having an inverse relationship between the change in the number of confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus in China and the change of the Shanghai Composite Index during the period from January 20, 2020 to May 15, 2020, therefore, investor appetite for risk assets has declined, and they have headed towards a journey to search for safer assets And the foremost was gold.
