Abstract EN

This paper deals with the role of civil society components in drawing the decision-maker’s attention to the gaps in the country's political and legal system, through its participation in engineering the country's constitutions.

Thus, we chose to evaluate the role of the Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights in the constitutional amendment consultations for the year 2014 as a case study, as the first direct participation to civil society in Algeria in such crucial consultations, explaining the reasons for this League’s failure to influence the decisionmaker.

We conclude with an assessment of the outcome of its struggle, proposing a set of recommendations directed to the Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights.
