The role of literature in changing society : "Oridu Hallan" as an example

Literature is of great impact on the life of the people since, it is a reflection of their society.

In this regard, this paper hypothesizes that literature can contribute in changing society when it finds an issue to be a disease which should be treated.

The aim of this paper is to validate the hypothesis by discussing the drama film, "Oridu Hallan" which tackles a social problem that is linked to woman's right in gaining divorce from a husband when she finds it is too difficult to continue living with him.

The paper follows a mixture of formalist and feminist approaches to discuss the issue of the drama film.
