The status of refugee women is most affected in times of armed conflict, Where it suffered through the ages of displacement as a result of wars and the consequent loss of housing and relatives and exposure to exploitation, Women constitute the vast majority of the millions of refugees in the world; this raises the problem of mechanisms and institutions for the international protection of refugee women and their compatibility with the current reality of the refugee problem.

Ensuring better protection and assistance to women affected by armed conflict requires understanding of the law that protects them; international law, particularly international humanitarian law, refugee law and international human rights law, Adequately address the needs of women in conflict.

It must be clearly understood that the Geneva Conventions, the Additional Protocols and the various human rights instruments provide for a legal duty to protect the physical and psychological integrity and dignity of women.
