Abstract EN

This study deals with the mental image of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia formed in the mind of the reader through the Qatari press in light of the current Gulf crisis.

In order to achieve this, it was necessary to analyze the press topics of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the four Qatari national newspapers: Al-Arab, Al-Sharq, Al-Watan, and Al-Raya for a full month during 2019.

The Study followed the descriptive-analytical method for collecting and analyzing data.

The focus was on identifying the major press topics of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the study period and their local, Gulf, Arab and international topics, in addition to the classifications of general topics of political and economic news, violence, human rights ...etc, as well as analyzing press display forms, informational and spatial sources of the topics.

At the end of the Study, the coverage direction of Saudi press topics, whether positive, negative, or neutral, was analyzed.

The Study came out with a wide range of findings that clarify the purposes of the Qatari press in choosing the topics of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the mental image it depicts about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in light of the Gulf crisis.
