Abstract EN

This study asks: Why should quantitative methods be used in political research? What is the possibility and means to achieve this use? What are the obstacles that can be faced.

The study concluded that adopting the positivism as a trend (philosophical, ontological, and epistemological) necessitated an experimental methodological agreement in line with this trend, by measuring the political phenomenon and expressing it in terms of numbers and statistical data, in order to analyze and explain it, and to generalize the conclusions drawn from it later.

However, the obstacles that impeded the possibility of widespread use of quantitative methods demonstrated the necessity of using qualitative methods for better understanding and explaining.
