Abstract EN

Undoubtedly, the tourism sector consists of a set of economical activities that contribute to the overall touristic income account in the national accounts of Iraqi economy.

These activities are represented in providing services such as (accommodation, food beverage, travel and touristic companies, touristic transport, cultural, sport and entertaining services.

The research aims to identify the reality of estimating tourism income in Iraq.

And reviewing some misconceptions in the tourism literature about the concept of tourism income, and The most important problem that causes the non-inclusion of all tourism sector activities in estimating tourism income.

The research covered the study and analysis of all data included in the tourism statistical surveys issued by the Central Agency for Statistics and Information Technology / Ministry of Planning.

To identify the most important problems that led to the adoption of the hotel activity in estimating tourism income, which does not include other economic activities of the tourism sector in Iraq.

The research adopted the descriptive and analytical method for the reality of estimating the income for the tourism sector activity for the fifteen governorates of Iraq, with the exception of the governorates of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Because of the independence of its accounts for tourism activity from the central government.

The research concluded that the tourism income account in Iraq gives the hotel income activity value only and does not give the income value to the tourism sector as it did not deal with all tourism sector activities.
