Abstract EN

The current paper aims at exploring the level of applying knowledge management in the basic education schools in Damietta governorate.

Also recognizing the difficulties that prevents applying knowledge management in these schools.

The researcher used the descriptive methodology where he constructed a questionnaire of (26) statements spanning two main themes, The study sample consisted of (85) principals of the basic education schools in Damietta governorate.

The study found the following: -1.

The level of applying knowledge management in the basic education schools in Damietta governorate in all the processes of knowledge management: knowledge generating, knowledge storing, knowledge distributing and knowledge application with the community moderately, and the average is between (2.7-3.22), 2.

There are many highly difficulties that prevented the application of knowledge management in the basic education schools in Damietta governorate with a high average of (3.94) as: the difference of the knowledge level among the teachers and lack of recognizing the importance of knowledge management.

Finally, The research offer a number of recommendations as: The Educational administration constructs the application of knowledge management processes as an approach to develop the educational and administrative performance and sets up the concept of knowledge management and presenting the adequate technical environment to manage knowledge in the basic education schools.
