First: Research problemValues are of great importance in the current era, given the rapid pace of political, economic, scientific, military and educational changes, which plays a major role in instilling and developing the values desired by individuals through various social institutions, including schools.

And values are part of the emotional goals that must appear in the behavior of individuals, and the teacher must be aware of the community and upholds and maintains them, to be a good example of his students, which makes it easy to instill the values of society in them to be good citizensSecond: Search Goal: This research aims at identifying the effect of teaching the common values in the collection of modern history in the third grade students: By verifying the following zero hypothesis: There are no statistically significant differences between the average achievement of students in the experimental group studying modern history by developing the common values and average scores of students of the control group who study the same subject using the traditional method.

Theird: search limits: Search is limited to- Students of the third grade intermediate in high school day in the province of Karbala for the academic year 2016-2017.

- Topics from the Modern History Book for the third intermediate grade (2014) to be taught 2016-2017.

Fourth: Research Methodology: The researcher followed the experimental method for the purpose of identifying (the effect of teaching the common values in the collection of modern history in the third grade students average) because it is one of the methods used in educational and psychological research.

Fifth: Search Tool: The research tool was a mental test prepared by the researcher of (40) paragraph of the type of testing of multiple and then verify its validity and stability.

Sixth: Statistical Methods: The researcher used a variety of methods (T - TesT) for two independent samples.

Seventh: Research results: By processing the statistical data, the experimental group showed superiority over the control group in the collection.

Eighth: Recommendations and proposals: In light of the results, the researcher recommends the following: • Attention must be paid to emotional goals in the teaching of modern history• National and social values must be demonstrated and strengthened, especially in a country such as Iraq that has lived in sectarian and ethnic conflicts.

• Building curricula in modern history based on values.
