Abstract EN

This Study of fish resources in Hadhramout Governorate has a significant economic value.

It tackles the fish resources in the governorate of Hadhramout and the most important fish zones, which are characterized with large numbers of fish and rich marine biology.

It also shows the main types of fish such as tuna grouper (Hamoor), emperor (Jahish), Shark, cuttlefish and lobster.

Moreover, the study reveals the importance of Hadhramout Governorate in the production of fish especially through traditional fishing.

Hadhramout occupies the second position among the coastal governorates of Yemen with reference to fish production.

This production covers the local market of the governorate and a part of that production is exported to foreign markets.

Hadhramout fish sales is 25.3% of the total fish sale of the other coastal governorates in the country.

The study also confirms the importance of the fish resources in providing fish for the canning industry in the governorate such as Al- Mukalla canning Fish Factory, Al-Ghaweizi Factory and Saba Canning Fish Factory whose production covers the local market and a part of it is exported to the neighboring countries.
