This paper presents a stochastic global optimization technique known as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for joint estimation of amplitude and direction of arrival of the targets in RADAR communication system.

The proposed scheme is an excellent optimization methodology and a promising approach for solving the DOA problems in communication systems.

Moreover, PSO is quite suitable for real time scenario and easy to implement in hardware.

In this study, uniform linear array is used and targets are supposed to be in far field of the arrays.

Formulation of the fitness function is based on mean square error and this function requires a single snapshot to obtain the best possible solution.

To check the accuracy of the algorithm, all of the results are taken by varying the number of antenna elements and targets.

Finally, these results are compared with existing heuristic techniques to show the accuracy of PSO.
