This paper presents the state-space representation of an internal combustion engine model in the idle speed mode and the control technique applied to the spark ignition four-cylinder engine is robust Hoo control using y iteration as a scalar factor.
The HL norm of closed-loop transfer function is (strictly) less than y.
A controller exists if the unique stability solutions to the two algebraic Ricotta equations are positive definite and the spectral radius of their product is less than y.
Under these conditions, a parameterization of controller solving the problem is given as a linear fractional transformation (LFT), constructed using these same two Ricotta solutions, equal that of the plant.
Computer simulation is used to illustrate the improvement in performance of the plant under £L control.
