The COVID-19 had direct repercussions on the holding of Parliamentary Council meetings, which raised the question about the extension of the legislative term for Parliament and the extent of Its impact on the general elections for the new parliament in light of the constitutional limits and time restrictions of the legislative term, which are calculated in years from the date of the first meeting of Parliament and its division into a number of Sessions.

The study concluded that the constitutional limits for the legislative term, which are defined as five years in the Egyptian Parliament and four years in the Kuwaiti National Assembly (Parliament), Non decrease- able.

His replacement of the existing parliament in the new parliament will take place after the holding of general elections on time.

The constitutional provisions specified for the duration of the legislative term are peremptory norms and there is no choice between their application or no application even in light of the repercussions of COVID-19 in 2020.
