Abstract EN
The field of sand dunes in Al-Najaf area which represents a part of the middle sand belts in Iraq has been studied engineering geologically.
This research is carried out to study the engineering properties of surficial sand dunes in selected regions at Al-Najaf governorate, extending from dune surface to the shallow depth.
To achieve the purpose of this papers, A series of experimental studies have been conducted on samples included the physical tests, chemical tests, heavy and light minerals analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis.
Permeability , compressibility and shear strength tests.
The results indicate that the Al-Najaf sand dunes are considered suitable to use in engineering construction such as roads, hotels and buildings.-
