Abstract EN

The current research aimed to find out the effectiveness of using differentiated instruction strategies in teaching social studies (geography) in developing geographical sense and motivation for achievement among third-year prep school students.

For this purpose, a list of geographical sense dimensions, and a list of motivation for achievement dimensions have been designed.

Teaching materials included the (Physical Geography of the World) unit designed in light of the use of differentiated instruction strategies.

Measurement instruments included a geographical sense test, and motivation for achievement scale.

The research experiment was conducted on a group of third-year prep school students in south Mesharak Preparatory School in Yusuf Al-Siddiq educational administration, Fayoum governorate (90 pupils divided into an experimental group of (45) students, and a control group of (45) students, in the first semester of 2019/2020).

Results of the research showed the effectiveness of using differentiated instruction strategies in teaching social studies (geography) in developing the dimensions of the geographical sense of the study sample (statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01), were found between the experimental and control groups, in favor of the experimental group.

Also, the results of the research showed the effectiveness of using differentiated instruction strategies in teaching social studies (geography) in developing motivation for achievement, as statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) were found between the experimental and control groups, in favor of the experimental group.

The researcher introduced a set of recommendations and suggestions related to teaching and learning of social studies in the various educational stages.
