Abstract EN

The study sheds lights on the characteristics of urbanization of in Kuwait and how the politics of urbanization may have shaped the development and structure of cilties.

Attention is given to the government's "scattering model"; wich provides abasis for the taxonomy of urbanism and the implantation of its processes.

The administrative model results in the division of cities there into interior and exterior residential groups. Interior cities cluster around the old Kuwait city, where the resident are largely non-tribal and mostly belong to the more affluent social classes.

The exterior cities, as a results of scattering, are inhabited by tribesmen, many of whom may be identified in asocial class taxonomy with the lower strata.

This specific urbanization model has bearing on the politico- economic order of recently steeled communities.
