The right to freedom of expression is a pillar of States with a democratic system.

By its very nature, human beings need to express themselves, and freedom of opinion is the best means of this expression, allowing the individual to express his views in various political, economic, social and cultural fields.

This contributes to the formation of an informed public opinion capable of monitoring those in charge of government in a way that prevents their deviations and leads to the benefit of society as a whole, so it was rightly said that freedom of opinion and expression is an effective means of evaluating society and revealing all practices that violate rights and freedoms.

Most European or Arab States have taken this right and dealt with it in their constitutions and have established a series of guarantees for their exercise and legal restrictions on their control.
