This study is based on the hypothesis and premises that creative literary discourse has argumentative dimensions as it seeks to convince and persuade the recipient, in one way or another, to accept and consider the author's vision, thoughts and sentiments.

Narrative discourse, as a creative discourse intended to be imaginative and entertaining, has certain hidden and implicit argumentative dimensions.

Thus, this study seeks to uncover one of these dimensions by shedding light on "the Ethos argument" in the novel Far from Noise, Close to Silence by the Moroccan novelist Mohammed Barrada.
