Abstract EN
The Abbasid caliphate of its golden age enjoyed considerable strength and prosperity thanks to its caliphs, who tightened their grip on the country's rule.
Therefore they grew strong, expanded their state, increased their economy, and the good prevailed throughout the countries and people.
Nevertheless, in the second age, the political and economic status changed.
The caliphate has been weakened by the misdemeanor of the Abbasid caliphs and the Turkish element within the Abbasid state and its control over the state.
Also, a series of natural disasters, the second era of the Abbasid state has been subjected to, have negatively affected the Abbasid community and made it vulnerable to poverty and begging.
This study tries to search through historical observation to follow the phenomenon of poverty in the second Abbasid age and its impact on public life through the following axes: The first axis: Political causes, the second axis: Natural disasters, the third axis: The consequences of the phenomenon and its impact on the public.
The research has reached a set of results, the most important of which are: The Turkish component's control of the second Abbasid era has been a key factor in modifying the Abbasid state from strength to weakness.
The natural disasters have been a cause of widespread poverty in the second Abbasid era.
The phenomenon of mendicity was the objective correlative for the public as a result of the poor political and economic situation in the Abbasid society.
Poetry expressed the deterioration of the lower classes' condition in the second Abbasid society, and this was reflected in the beggary of poets by describing their food, their beverages, their clothing, and their housing.
