Abstract EN

This study deals with the great role played by the Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars in defending the identity of the Algerian people during the colonial period, relying on many means, among them the press and in particular the newspaper "Al-Basa'ir", which served as a container carrying the association's ideas, and communicates its reformist message, In order to counter the French policy aimed at separating the Algerians from their past and everything related to their personal and cultural foundations.

It is Among the constants of identity that took a great deal in the reform project at the assembly, we find interest in common history, and accordingly, in this study, depending on the Insights Newspaper, we will try to highlight the importance of history among the association’s men in confronting the French cultural invasion and looking for aspects of interest in national and Islamic history.

At the association, by highlighting the role of Al-Basa'ir newspaper in preserving historical memory, and also addressing the association’s role in encouraging the teaching of history in its educational project, as well as its interest in the historical composition movement, in addition to its keenness to employ history in ceremonial and theatrical activities.
