Abstract EN

This research deals with three statues of the Grotesque children in Roman Egypt, made of terracotta, one of them preserved in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest, Hungary, the second preserved in the Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria, Egypt and another in the "Schreiber, Tübingen 5208/25" collection.

The research includes comparison of these statues with other works of art such as: Fayoum Portraits, sculpture from the altar of peace from the ancient city of Rome, a plastic vase with child face, and Lunula amulet.

The research also addresses diseases that may infect infants at this age such as mumps and congenital malformations such as scoliosis, its causes, symptoms, and treatment methods, and explain them through ancient philosophers and doctors, such as: Hippocrates and Galen.

At the end of the research the conclusions in which century belong to his statues, their artistic features, their purpose, and the place of their manufacture.

It concludes with a catalogue of statues.
