Abstract EN

The research aims at determining the effectiveness of SCAMPER strategy in developing the achievement, mathematical thinking and maintaining the learning outcomes among the elementary school students.

The SCAMPER strategy basics were determined and a plan including the general aim, behavioral goals, teaching procedures, exercises and assessment strategies was prepared.

Based on this plan, a teacher guide was conducted in addition to an achievement test and mathematical thinking test in which two-groups (control and experimental) experimental method was used with a measuring technique before and after teaching the two units.

The research group consisted of 76 students in the fifth grade.

The group was devided into two subgroups : 37 students experimental group, 39 students control group.

The achievement test and the thinking test were conducted on the research group before delivering the two units and then the tests were conducted again after teaching the two units directly.

After three weeks from the post test, the tests was assigned one more time.

The results show that there was an effect of teaching the two units according the SCAMPER strategy in developing both the thinking and achievement.
